Bad Knitter, Bad Blogger

Well, I have little to show from all these past months, but here's my hubby's hat anyway.... it's full of soft cottony goodness!
And just 'cause it's lovely, here's something from our garden- a tree dahlia, which blooms around Thanksgiving every year. I've been having fun taking photos in our garden this spring- so much has bloomed like crazy. Guess it was a good weather year for many plants- roses especially.
I finally figured out how to get back into my blogger accounts- something about the google change made it necessary for me to recreate my account (three times to pick up three blogs... go figure).

I refuse to discuss the number of UFOs and their lack of progress... I have been knitting very little, and am not sure why. I think I have four projects in progress, and I REALLY want to start some socks. I vacillate between "nothing new 'til I've finished what I've started" and "better start the socks, maybe it will motivate me". Anyway, I've pulled the sock "starter kit" out of the closet, so I'm getting closer!
Next time, maybe another FO?? Hope so!

More FOs!

Here are the MDK baby kimono in SnC hot purple, and a Lion Suede scarf (looks like chenille to me!) in Mountaintop (moss stitch, on size 13s I think) . I've heard that the kimono has been successfully worn already, and I don't think my sister knows I have this blog, so it should still be a surprise!
There are so many things I'd like to start- a felted bag for my sister-in-law, and other felted bags just for fun, socks (still a sock virgin!), my bamboo ballerina from kpixie, the list goes on... but I'm hoping to finish my Mom's Nina shawl by Christmas (I don't think she reads my blog either!) and between that, hubby's hat, the lace scarf in handspun and the constant washcloths I have enough going on already. My mind knits much faster than my hands!
I did start the handspun scarf with the idea it would be for me (esp. since the yarn was a gift) but as I work on it it occurs to me that it would be just perfect for my friend Patty...

Finally Photos!

Here are my first & second completed projects- A sparkly purple "boa" for my neice, and two washcloths done this past May for Mother's Day. The boa is "Fun Fur" as I recall, and the cloths are Sugar 'n' Cream in Potpourri. Both Mom and MIL were pleased- but my Mom much more so as she is a longtime knitter and has been waiting forever for someone to pick up her habit. Niece professes to love her boa, but she's a very enthusiastic young lady in general, so who knows! I've also finished a Mason Dixon baby kimono (still needs it's ties though), the chenille scarf for my sister and a plaid stitch dishcloth for a Christmas gift. Added to previous post WIPs are another dishcloth (MDK/ballband- finally!) and Midnight Purl's diagonal lace scarf in a Vermont handspun my best friend sent for my b'day. I just love the diagonal lace stitch- easy to get the hang of and very gratifying to knit as you can see the pattern emerging almost immediately. I'd had an idea in mind for some kind of mesh stitch scarf, but when I came across MP's pattern it just grabbed me! Next post- more photos!

every other month?

That seems to be the rate at which I can post to this blog... so I'm knitting a bunch of stuff as usual: a gift shawl for my mom (four colors of elann sonata cotton), a night cap (really! he asked for one- Rowan cotton tape) for hubby, a scarf for my sister (Lion Suede- which seems to me more like chenille, but hey) and another scarf of unknown destination (that ladder yarn that's so popular in these parts). I have yet to knit anything for myself- not sure why that is, except that perceived "deadlines" for gifts always seem more pressing...
A bit more about me? I started knitting late last summer, but very slowly, so that my first FOs were washcloths for my mom and mom-in-law for this past Mother's Day. I used pretty ribbon as a drawstring to wrap them around yummy soap, and was so pleased with my "original" idea- that is until I got the Mason Dixon book, and discovered that there really are very few original ideas! One day, when I figure out how, I'll post a photo or two of my FOs.
'til then!

To Blog or Not to Blog

I really just set this up to see if I could reply to a Mason Dixon KAL post- I've been trying since Sunday to join the group, but the moderator doesn't respond...
